100 special teams for vaccination of IDPs, Afghan refugees
formed
NOWSHERA: The district
administration has formed 100 special teams for anti-polio
vaccination of the internally displaced people (IDPs) and Afghan
refugees, who are living at different camps of the district.
As many as 232,628 children
below five-year of age would be administered anti-polio drops
during the three days special anti-polio campaign that will kick
off from March 15 to 17 across Nowshera district for whom 793
teams have been constituted to make the country polio free, said
DCO Rohullah Khan while presiding over a high level meeting at
his office on Tuesday.
The Afghan refugees are lived at
Akora Khattak and Azakhel camps would get the services of 58
teams in order to vaccinate 22689 children. Likewise, 40 special
teams have been constituted to vaccinate 20500 children at
Risalpur and Jalozai IDPs camps.
The meeting was informed that 98
percent target has been achieved due to successful previous
campaign while special focus is being made to achieve 100
percent results during this campaign.
Speaking on the occasion, DCO
Nowshera Rohullah Khan said that joint efforts are required to
eradicate this crippling disease that has no boundary, border
and geography. "Vaccination is the only way to prevent our
children from the disease."
He urged parents, teachers,
members' of civil society, people and guardians to bring their
kids to the nearest hospitals, BHUs in case anti-polio teams did
not arrive to their homes.
The DCO urged the religious
scholars and Khateebs to throw special light during their
sermons and educate masses to make the campaign a success. EDO
Health Dr Sabz Ali Khan, EDO Education Hasanat Gul, EPO Dr Rahim
Shah and ACO Abdul Hameed were also present on the occasion. -
